The Summer I turned on the PurpleAir PM Two point Five Monitor

Began for me when I won a PurpleAir monitor during a raffle and a tour!

SWAG monitoring NIMBY Wood Stoves caught my eye at the Twelfth in  August!

By early September, technically still summer until the Twenty Second

I had gathered PM Two point Five data every 10 minutes for a month!

By the Twelfth of October I will have air pollution date for a full two months!

In the summer you would expect wildfire background air pollution to show up

Much background appeared in late June and early July before my monitor was set up!

From August Twelfth to September Twelfth, what a revelation, but expected corroboration!

The hyperlocal wood burning from inside the home of my near neighbor

Did generate the noxious levels from next door I knew were harbored

In my yard and infiltrating my home, but now I had scientific proof!

I went to my local Health Department and under their clean air roof

Discussed what was happening hyper-locally to me very close by

But far enough from official EPA monitors which made it seem like Blue Skies

To the Health Department when looking at the official EPA monitors of smoke and fire

Neighborhood air pollution seemed like an anomaly that should be smoothed out

When really, local data showed the indoor residential burner should be carried out

The front door of my next door neighbor and a Heat Pump should be carried in!

And the saga of the Summer I turned On my PM Two point Five monitor in

My yard under the eaves of my house should turn out to be a clean air win

But alas it was not to be and the data I collected in August and early September

Was overlooked because there was no law or municipal ordinance that tendered

My scientific evidence as proof that the air pollution was caused by my neighbor!

I had additional evidence.   Timed photos of when the wood smoke danger

Emerged visibly from the chimney. Though not easily visible taken at night

My neighbor had the penchant to burn whenever, which included at first sight

To be at 8 AM and 10 AM and noon as well as 4 PM and 6 PM which included a slight

Dip when he did other things around his home such as possibly working

Although he seemed intent on his task of creating air pollution and not shirking

His primary interest. Not spending his summer on swimming and hiking

Or in early September, while still summer, looking at changing colors while biking.

This slight from the local Health Department made me look internationally

I found that other temperate clime PM Two point Five monitor owners rationally

Were also collecting data with hopes of being listened to and data acted on

The ultimate solution, all international indoor residential wood burning shut down!

We convene again on October Twelfth Two Thousand Twenty Four

Let us compare notes and see how the best of our countries fare!

In the nations in the Northern Hemisphere who recently experienced Summer days

We can expect that some PM Two point Five readings will include wildfire smoke days

But on days where wildfire smoke has abated the most probable cause of pollution

The houses of near neighbors of indoor residential wood burners

Those wood burners making the unnecessary choice to be wood burners

On days when home heating need is non existent and cooking can be done

With much less work and grime than roasting marshmallows in a home alone.

When using a natural gas stove or electric appliance to making marshmallows into mush

Which does not appeal to all palates and plates could be better filled with protein, hushed

Voices may cry out that wood smoke flavor enhances marshmallow food flavor but much

Scientific evidence shows that wood smoking caused a chemical cause of many types of cancer!

In the nations in the Northern Hemisphere who recently experienced Winter days

Such as Australia the government is acted recently to approve Plug In A K A Balcony Solar

And acted to provide extensive subsidies for Home Battery Storage to enable a near-polar

move away from dirty heating like wood burning or other solid fuel or fossil fuel burning.

Is that enough to move the needle away from the non-physical addiction of wood burning?
