then free falling off a shelf in California with no equanimity

A successful  fluke catch during that earthquake eventually

Was  only one dramatic calamity that I forestalled

Without a catcher’s mitt but caught barehanded.

Now I have a cat and it did not edge objects off for fun

Until it’s late twos which in human years is the teens

The attention from groups of humans when edging

Seemed to urge this cat on to destruction not hedging

Behavior even when human noise was ambiguous or even negative

Cats are mysterious. This cat liked the attention and saw love

In the yelling and milling around at least until it was explained

In sweetly pitched soothing logical tones until the Cat purred

That chaos ensued and the container for her sustenance

Lost its utility when the China dish shattered in pieces.

Will the Cat continue to edge China off shelves in the future?
